Practical Steps For Making Money From Blog

Ever since blogs have become the flavor of the day, the web is awash with suggestions as to how one can mint money from them.

In most cases the suggestions are mundane, like increasing social visibility, writing engagingly, optimizing with keywords, pinging to as many RSS readers as possible, and so on.

While none of these is something that doesn’t help, the most pressing need, according to me, is to churn out large amount of fresh content. It matters less than what is believed if you do not strictly follow the above suggestions.

There are 2 ways to learn something. One is by being taught by an expert, and second, learning the hard way doing it oneself. Though not a great earner yet, making money from blog has been a combination of the two for me, the latter more than the former.

Whenever I look at my blogs, I’m reminded of the water cistern at my earlier office. People would come and fill in plastic glasses with water from a tap in the cistern. The cistern itself would need fresh filling twice in a day so that people get water to drink all the time.

A blog is akin to the water cistern. At no time should a blog be devoid of fresh content, for otherwise people will stop visiting it. To my mind, this is the most basic criterion for making money from blog.

No matter what it is about, doesn’t matter how you dress it up, unless it has fresh contents, there is no way you can hope making money from blog.

In other words, blogs are more similar to online newspapers in attracting visitors, who, after they arrive, can be expected to do things that would fetch you money.

With that in perspective, let us see what are some practical steps that ought to be done for making money from blog. Since content is the center of all attractions of a blog, we’ll have a separate discussion on it. Readers may refer to my full article on making money from blog.

All in all, here are some of my takes:

Incorporating Google AdSense

Coming straight to the point, of all the moneymaking options, AdSense is perhaps the most viable and most easy to incorporate in the blog. I’ve noticed several blog-writers shying away from having AdSense ads in their blogs while not averse to ask for donations. In my opinion, this can rarely work unless the blog is for a social cause.

There are many reasons why AdSense finds maximum acceptability among newbie and oldies alike. Ease of use must rank at the top, but more than that AdSense offers real possibility of making tons of money from blog (more in my article).

Writing Contents That People Like

Ideally, contents come first before AdSense can start to make any sense. Since however the subject is making money from blog, I’ve mentioned AdSense before contents.

As spoken in the beginning, the content of your blog is what will decide its fate. Even if you’re less inclined in making money from blog, but harbor hope of being ‘seen’ at places, you’ve to take the route of writing tons of great contents.

Like they say, more the quantum of contents in your blog, more the number of doors and windows being created to let in viewers and interested readers to your blog.

Looking at it more objectively, if you want traffic from searches, it is worth remembering that search engines just pick up the bare bones of your webpages, the contents. Any amount of dressing just doesn't matter at all.
