Where is Blogging Headed in 2007?Blogging has been around for decades in the form of paper journals created by the aspiring minds of the world’s individuals. Privacy used to be a must-have commodity as diary owners kept their personal autobiographies behind lock and key. However, the online version developed and exploded. Privacy became an item of the past and flaunting your personal life became the popular digital accessory. As negative as it seems, people simply love to read about other people. Have we stretched the blogging popularity to its maximum or will we continue to see blogging flourish in new directions during 2007? Where Did Blogging Begin? Blogging was birthed in 1994 when college student, Justin Hall made the first ever internet blog. In 1977, Jorn Barger first used “Weblog” as a term for “logging the web”. Finally, in April of 1999, Programmer Peter Merholz shortens “Weblog” to “blog”. The rest of the internet caught on and as we say: “the rest is history”. Why is it so Popular? Blogs are popular for several reasons. For one, any non-technical person can use a blog without prior HTML knowledge. Secondly, blogs open the door for anyone to become a private reporter, whether they were reporting their normal daily activities or the latest breaking news. Perhaps the biggest reason blogging became popular is due to the social aspect. Features such as blogrolls, permalinks and trackbacks make it easier for the world to find a particular blog. Also, we get excited when we can take a step into a life unlike our own when it wouldn’t be physically possible except via the digital world. Do you want to learn more about how I do it?
